Explore Botox® at Chapter’s Eden Prairie Location, Setting Us Apart From Others
By now, we’ve all heard the buzz about Botox® (and if you haven’t, you’re really missing out). It’s the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure in the world, with millions of doses administered each year. It’s known for great results, minimal side effects, and low-hassle treatment sessions.
The truth is, Botox® lives up to the hype. That’s why we’re proud to offer it among our medical-grade skincare and anti-aging treatments at Chapter Aesthetic Studio.
Are you interested in exploring Botox® treatments in the comfort of a medical spa? Let’s get you up to speed. In the sections below, we’ll briefly cover how Botox® works and who it’s right and wrong for. We’ll also discuss pain during treatment (don’t worry, there isn’t much), recovery time, and possible side effects.
How Botox® Injections Work
Botox® refers to an injection of Botulinum toxin into the skin. Botulinum toxin is a protein made by bacteria. In the form of Botox® injections, this protein is used to block the transmission of certain nerve signals that are used for muscle contraction. As a result, Botox® shots help muscles to relax, which has the beneficial effect of smoothing out wrinkles.
Botox® is also useful for a variety of medical purposes. For example, Botox® is an FDA-approved treatment for migraines, neck spasms, involuntary eye twitches, and even certain bladder problems. However, the most common use of Botox® is to improve the quality of facial skin. Botox® is known for quickly and effectively ironing out wrinkles and restoring a more bright and youthful appearance.
Who Is Botox® Right For?
Botox® might be right for you if you’re interested in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox® can be administered throughout the face. It’s especially helpful in these areas:
- Crow’s feet (outer eye wrinkles)
- Forehead
- “11” lines (vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows)
But there’s also lesser known areas that Botox can be useful for as well including:
- Bunny lines (the area around your nose when you scrunch it up)
- Lip lines
- Eyebrows (when your brow needs a slight lift)
Botox® is a great option if you aren’t satisfied with over-the-counter skincare products but you don’t want to have invasive surgery.
Who Is Botox® Wrong For?
Botox® is safe for most people, but not for everyone. Botox® should be avoided by people with certain neurological conditions, women who are breastfeeding or pregnant, and individuals who are allergic to cow’s milk protein. Before treatment, your provider will offer information and consultation to make sure that Botox® is a healthy choice for you.
Botox® in a Med Spa: How a Treatment Session Works
At Chapter, you’ll enjoy your Botox® session in a warm, inviting spa setting while receiving treatment from a licensed medical professional. Treatment takes less than 30 minutes. During that time, you’ll receive a series of shots in the problem areas that you selected for treatment. Each patient’s treatment is customized but typically includes around two to four shots per injection zone.
Does Botox® Hurt? Are There Any Side Effects?
Most patients consider Botox® to be “relatively” painless. That means a small amount of pain and discomfort may occur, but these sensations are typically mild. During the moment of injection, you might feel a slight stinging or pinching as the needle breaks the skin.
After Botox® treatment, some mild side effects may occur. These are typically limited to the areas around the injection sites and include mild bruising, tenderness, or redness. These effects usually disappear within 48 hours.
Other less common side effects include headache, flu symptoms, and dry or watery eyes. However, when administered properly by a licensed professional, these side effects are rare.
Botox® treatment doesn’t involve recovery time or require major lifestyle adjustments after treatment. However, immediately after receiving injections, it’s helpful to avoid wearing makeup or exposing the skin to direct sunlight for a few hours or up to a day or two. This helps the injection sites to completely heal without becoming irritated. You’ll also want to avoid laying down for at least one hour and make sure to not rub the area that’s been treated.
